Mattias Desmet
About
Mattias Desmet is a public speaker, writer, and professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University. He also runs a private psychotherapy practice and organizes workshops in which he practices, together with others, the art of sincere speaking. Mattias is the author of several books, including the international bestseller The Psychology of Totalitarianism.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, he has gained international recognition through his theory of mass formation. He has delivered critical lectures on Enlightenment culture in various political institutions, ranging from United States Capitol to the European Parliament. His work has been discussed on media platforms such as The Joe Rogan Experience, Forbes, New York Post, and Tucker Carlson Today, in addition to hundreds of other newspapers and channels both domestically and internationally. His interviews have been viewed by millions of people around the world.
What audiences particularly appreciate is that, despite the many campaigns against him in the mainstream media, he continued to speak calmly — entirely in line with his theory that the only remedy against totalitarianism is to continue speaking calmly and courageously in the public sphere.
