Basic series on sincere speech

Society pulls and drags us along. Daily life carries us away in a current of illusion and compulsion, of isolation and emptiness. Somewhere within the swirling stream of life, true words reach us. They open a door in the wall of alienation closing in around us; they bring us to the point where we become who we Are; they are nourishment for the Soul.

How do we recognize true words when they knock on the door of our Ego? How do we learn to open our ears when someone else sends them to us? How do we learn to speak them at precisely the right moment — the moment of Truth? How do we let our ship sail upon the tides of the true word, the tides that gently and irresistibly carry us toward our home and our destiny?

True speaking comes from the Soul; it comes from a place normally hidden behind the wall of our Ego. To find the source of true words, we must go to the point where we feel most vulnerable in this world of appearances. It is through the courage to be vulnerable that Truth is born into this world.

Each workshop series consists of four days. On the first day, we explore language as a resonating medium through which the young child merges with its mother and surroundings. The second day focuses on the Ego as the foundation of narcissism, rationalism, and isolation, and as the primary resistance to sincere speaking. On the third day, we reflect on the way sincere speech passes through the Ego and gives rise to experiences of love and connection with the Other, with one’s own body, and with nature. The fourth day is devoted to sexuality and the masculine and feminine positions in speech.

The workshops take place in a small circle of sixteen people. Throughout each day, we also taste four different kinds of tea. Like wine, tea is a substance with a remarkable capacity to hold Soul and essence. Tea speaks — and responds to words. Through the exercises, both during the workshops and at home, we also reflect on the language of our dreams — our dreams tell us something, and all too often we fail to listen.

Each workshop is a new experience. Every group forms a circle in which words are born and arrive as they wish to arrive in that particular moment.
